Chris Akers grew up in Washington D.C. and received his B.A. at Amherst College. Soon after college he began working and studying as an actor in New York City. After gaining experience and credits, Chris moved to L.A. where he continued to pursue acting, landing roles in television, film, theatre, and commercials. He quickly fell in love with the storytelling work that went on behind the camera, which led him to Lightstream Pictures, where he worked as an apprentice and Creative Assistant to award-winning Australian Director, Paul Currie. Chris was extremely fortunate to be exposed to all areas of directing and considers Lightstream an exceptionally valuable training ground. Chris is currently working on a follow up short film called GENTLE RAIN in addition to developing a feature. WANTING ALEX is Chris’ directorial debut.

Kerry Carney is originally from Boston and has been in L.A. for over ten years. She has a BFA in theatre from the University of Rhode Island, and is an actress and a writer. She is a company member of the Elephant Theatre and performs there regularly. Her short plays have been performed at The Elephant in their annual festival, LOVE BITES. She has been featured in several television shows including GREY’S ANATOMY, NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE, ‘TIL DEATH, and MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE, among others.

M. Elizabeth Hughes, a Georgia native, received her B.A. in Communications and Theatre from Wesleyan College in 2006. While at Wesleyan, M. Elizabeth directed two plays, and completed her honors thesis on the Inspiration Narrative Process, a new approach to television studies. M. Elizabeth earned her M.F.A. in Film and Television Producing from Chapman University in 2008. While at Chapman, M. Elizabeth worked on over a dozen films. Most notably, she produced her thesis film, THE ISOLATIONIST, which won the award for Best Student Film at the SoCal Independent Film Festival in 2008. Following graduation, she produced the feature film HERPES BOY starring Beth Grant (NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, DONNIE DARKO), Ahna O’Reilly (FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL) and Byron Lane (Herpes Boy web series). Following Herpes Boy, M. Elizabeth worked on WE LIVE IN PUBLIC, the winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary at Sundance 2009, as the production manager. M. Elizabeth also served as the line producer for the Streamy Award winning web series THE GUILD starring Felicia Day. She is currently working on the upcoming documentary BOB AND THE MONSTER about the musician Bob Forrest.

Mike attended graduate school at Chapman University where he studied directing. He has written and directed several shorts that have gone on to festivals such as The LA Shorts Film Fest, The Siouxland Film Festival, The International Student Film Festival Hollywood, The Ashland Film Festival, and The San Diego International Children’s Film Festival, to name just a few. His short film that he wrote and directed ELI VS. THE ROPE is slated to play in several festivals later this year and his short YANCY ON A SATURDAY NIGHT has been nominated for several awards and received critical acclaim. Mike is also an up-and-coming actor and can be seen in the popular web series, SEMI-DEAD and BAD LOVE. He continues his passion for filmmaking with his producer role on WANTING ALEX along with his involvement in several other projects due to be released this year.
